They Stopped the Trains to Defend the Forest
In July 2025, Innu and Nehirowisiw land defenders from the MAMO Alliance blocked Canadian National (CN) railway lines between Mauricie and Abitibi to stop the extraction and transport of timber from their unceded territories. Despite a police presence, the blockades remained peaceful — grounded in Indigenous sovereignty and a deep commitment to protecting the boreal forest. Amplifier Films was on the ground in both Wemotaci and Mashteuiatsh to document this act of resistance. 🎬 Stay tuned for our upcoming documentary: Defenders of the Forest https://amplifierfilms.ca/forest
