You Live on Stolen Land
Currently in development
You Live on Stolen Land is a raw, unapologetic journey into the personal histories of Clifton Nicholas and Franklin López, two men from colonized lands—Kanehsatake and Boriken (also known as Puerto Rico)—whose lives are shaped by resistance. Clifton is a Mohawk land defender, and Franklin is an independent filmmaker who has been documenting Indigenous struggles for decolonization for nearly 20 years. Blending personal storytelling, adult humor, and historical reckoning, the film explores their parallel experiences with colonization, rebellion, and the fight for autonomy. The story follows Clifton’s bold but increasingly fraught move to open Quebec’s first Indigenous-owned marijuana shop on the land of the legendary Oka Crisis, as the marijuana industry spirals out of control, threatening the very land it once defended.
