On April 12, 2025, activists blocked the expansion site of the toxic waste landfill Stablex in Blainville, Quebec. This controversial project threatens ecologically sensitive peatlands, imports hazardous waste from the United States, and is moving forward without real public consultation.
During the action, workers used heavy machinery to endanger protesters. One person was knocked down, and another was nearly strangled by Blainville municipal police — who refused to de-escalate the situation despite clear danger and cries for help.
This video documents that violence, and the brave resistance of a community refusing to be poisoned.
